The PuXuan Hotel and Spa: inside Beijing’s latest luxury offering

Designed by Ole Scheeren, the PuXuan Hotel and Spa is the latest luxury offering from Urban Resort Concepts located just a stone’s throw away from The Forbidden City. We take a look inside the eye-catching design of this unusual concept.

Less than a mile away from the Forbidden City in Beijing, the PuXuan Hotel and Spa sits at the top of the newly opened Guardian Art Centre, designed by renowned German architect Ole Scheeren.

Architecturally, Scheeren’s design weaves the rich heritage of the province into a contemporary structure. The glass facade plays homage to the brick patterns of traditional hutongs, through which guests have access to views of the imperial palace and Jingshan Park.

For the hotel’s interior, Shanghai practice MQ Studio has combined eastern and western influences into the 92 guestrooms and 24 suites. The muted colours, sliding screens and wooden floorings found in each room are complemented by handcrafted furniture from Chinese lifestyle brand SHANG XIA.

At the heart of the hotel’s eighth floor is the exclusive PuXuan Club, complete with private meeting rooms, outdoor spaces, a library, and a domestic kitchen and dining area, designed by German manufacturer Bulthaup.

The PuXuan also features Urban Resort Concepts’ UR SPA, a 24-hour state of the art gym and movement studio, and two restaurants.
