Urban art has adorned city streets for years, but now it is making its way into the hospitality space as hoteliers look to tap into the popularity of wall murals with unique statement pieces that add extra visual appeal for guests. The Adnate, Australia

Perth is getting a new addition to its skyline thanks to a 25-storey ‘Mega Mural’, which has been commissioned as part of the exterior of new Art Series Hotel, The Adnate. The mural is the brainchild of the hotel's namesake, Australian painter Matt Adnate, and features three large-scale portraits that represent the cultural history and community of Perth.

Adnate has also collaborated with a local Indigenous artist on a 50-metre-long exterior laneway mural and, inside the hotel, will contribute a mural above the hotel’s main staircase.

BnA HOTEL Koenji, Japan

This unique Tokyo location, produced by the Bed & Art Project, puts art at the heart of the hotel experience. Each room is designed and built by local architects, designers, carpenters, and artists such as Yohei Takahashi whose acrylic running wolf pack mural can be found on the wall of the hotel’s "into the foreign" room [pictured].

Radisson RED Brussels

Located in the European Quarter, Raddisson Red Brussels offers guests a vibrant visual experience with work by emerging artists featured in the hotel’s communal areas, guest rooms, bar and kitchen.

To complement the modern, bold interior, large scale graphic drawings by local comic book illustrators Wauter Mannaert and Max De Radigues were chosen to adorn the walls and give a nod to Belgium’s rich history of comic book illustration.

Hotel Figueroa

In homage to its history as a safe haven for solo female travellers, the Studio Collective-designed Hotel Figueroa in Los Angeles showcases female artists both inside and out.

Artistic elements have been woven into both the interior and exterior design of this boutique Seattle hotel, which is part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection. Local muralist Weirdo (a.k.a. Jeff Jacobson) was commissioned to paint an original mural in his ‘Post-Internet Hyperrealism’ style that guests can view from certain windows.

Inside, murals have also been incorporated into the interior decor, including this line art depiction of skyscrapers and the city’s iconic Space Needle.
