New In: The Latest Materials, Fixtures and Fittings

New materials, fixtures and fittings are always being released, providing new options for schemes of all shapes and sizes. Here we pick some of our favourites from the past few months

Moonjelly Lights

A quirky lighting collection with strong Memphis influences, the Moonjelly lights by South African design studio Dokter and Misses make a bold focus point for schemes. Bulbous blown glass bubbles hang over the rings in the lights’ geometric steel structures, with eye-catching cords in contrasting colours providing an additional pop to the design.

Lino Leather

Designed by Don Kwaning, Lino Leather has been created as a vegan alternative to conventional leather. Made from linoleum, the leather is available in two forms, a thick type that can be used to create wall panels for acoustic dampening, and a softer version akin to saddle leather, which can be used for interior finishes and commercial applications.

Grohe Sensia Arena

A combined bidet and toilet, the Sensia Arena from Grohe is designed to help reduce water waste. It features a built-in nozzle with three settings: gentle, strong or oscillating. The toilet also features a built-in ventilator that is designed to extract odours and pass them through a carbon filter, and is coated in Grohe’s bacteria-resistant HyperClean glaze and finished with a dirt-resistant coating.

Plasticiet Recycled Sheets

Providing an alternative to stone composite terrazzo, Plasticiet’s range of sheet materials are designed to be for a wide variety of applications. Made from recycled plastic, the sheets are available in a variety of colour mixes. At present they can be ordered in sheets up to 80cm x 80cm, although there are plans to increase the maximum supported size.

Dorval Light

Created by SCMP Design Office, the Dorval light takes inspiration from the International Space Station, which a dramatic four-lamp head design in brushed aluminium. The lamp is available as a pendant, track lighting array and a table lamp, with each lamp head designed to be angled to direct light. The pendant also features a cylinder that can pivot.
