at home even in the most challenging conditions

New innovative solutions in wooden building components have allowed wood to enter into new construction end-uses traditionally dominated by concrete and steel. Massive wood elements open the way for taller wooden high-rise buildings than ever before.

Part of the bioeconomy, Stora Enso is a leading provider of renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, wooden constructions, and paper globally. Our materials are renewable, reusable, and recyclable, and form the building blocks for a range of innovative solutions that can help replace products based on fossil fuels and other non-renewable materials.

Stora Enso’s Wood Products division provides versatile wood-based solutions for building and housing. Our product range covers all areas of construction, including massive wood elements and wood components. We also offer sawn timber goods, biocomposites and pellets for sustainable heating.

About us

In the future, construction solutions will face increasingly tougher challenges from the elements. Climate change means even harsher weather than before, such as wind, rainstorms and hybrid storms will be stronger than before. It will also make draughts and humidity more intense, which in turn will pose even more challenges to the indoor air, energy efficiency and life cycle of buildings.

Alupro louvres were initially developed for the demanding conditions of the marine industry, where seawater and strong winds set the bar high. This is not the only extremely demanding test laboratory for the Finnish company’s products: they are also put to the test in the variable conditions and four distinct seasons of the Nordic countries. The innovations Alupro has developed for the marine industry can also be used in construction. Alupro can offer proven solutions for air conditioning and facades that meet the requirements of future challenges and have been tested in demanding Finnish weather conditions. The products are the result of systematic research and development and have been designed to last for decades, whatever the weather they are exposed to.

Louvres protect against weather

The special louvres, made in the Alupro factory in Finland, keep water, snow and sand out of the structures and air-conditioning systems of buildings. The Alupro louvres are designed to work even in cold winter conditions. The louvres can be equipped with heated profiles that ensure that snow, ice and frost do not threaten indoor equipment with moisture damage. Louvres can be installed in server rooms, for example. Alupro has delivered solutions of this type in Finland and abroad. The louvres can be tailored to the shapes and sizes customers need, and there are ideal options available for various face velocities and airflow volumes.

The AluClik louvres, specifically developed for snowy conditions, offer efficient and visually pleasing protection of air inlets against the elements. These technically superior external louvres prevent water and snow from penetrating the building. Louvres are an excellent choice for both the facades of ventilated spaces and for protecting individual parts from the weather; they can be used in virtually any structure that needs to be protected against water, snow or debris.

The Alupro product portfolio also includes high-quality demisters and desanders. The design of the more advanced and specialised louvres is based on vertical blades and a maze-like interior build. This structure efficiently separates droplets, snow, and sand from the air, and leads them out through the lower part of the louvre.

Proven quality that looks good

All Alupro products are tested rigorously. The properties of the louvre solutions, such as particle separation, noise emission and pressure loss, have been independently tested for conformity to the applicable standards. Alupro also has its own test laboratory that was specifically developed for determining the water separation rate of louvre systems while minimising pressure loss. The Alupro equipment can be used for testing airflow of 10 m/s (36 km/h). Typical airflow rates through air inlets in buildings is 0 to 2 m/s and no more than 0 to 4 m/s.

The test laboratory is used for testing both existing products and developing new and innovative ones. In testing and R&D, Alupro also collaborates closely with the independent Finnish test and research centre VTT. While the technical properties of its products are of utmost importance to Alupro, the company always pays attention to the architectural requirements of buildings in its R&D. Its world-class solutions look good and will endure even the most demanding conditions in the world for the next hundred years.

Alupro sees the future and the changing weather conditions it brings as an exciting challenge, not a problem.

At the moment, the experts working at the Finnish company are developing a new innovation. The revolutionary Alupro Future Facade System will give the market a new and cost-effective solution to facade constructions that also improves the quality of indoor air. Come rain or shine, Alupro is your ideal partner when you need expertise in challenging conditions.
