Tombola House, Sunderland (UK)

Tombola, Europe’s biggest online gaming company, wanted to build a new headquarters, with the ambition to provide the best possible working environment for its employees and to maximise the stunning views to the River Wear. As a leading tech company it was also important for them to work in a technologically advanced building, which could attract young professionals. They didn't want the striking trio of roof pitches and feature glazed east elevation to be diluted with any internal and external shading systems, but with their staff working on multiple computer screens, controlling glare and direct sunlight was essential.
SageGlass met all of tombola’s ambitions for the building aesthetically and functionally, as well as providing major performance benefits: it will help to boost the 300-plus employees productivity and reduce the energy consumption by controlling heat.

Lambeth Civic Centre, London (UK)

The architects wished the Lambeth Civic Centre’s design to be attractive to the public and wanted to ensure that it achieves its sustainability goals, including achieving BREEAM ‘Excellent’ certification.
After considering a variety of solar control solutions, they chose to install SageGlass dynamic glass in the atrium of the Civic Centre to provide an optimal office environment free from heat gain and glare, and to help reduce energy demand by decreasing reliance on overhead electrical systems and the need for HVAC.
Due to its ability to tint to adapt to the sun’s rays, SageGlass provides year-round indoor comfort. Unique appearance also helps the building stand out in order to achieve the design goal of attracting more visitors.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, Dubai (UAE)

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is the largest library and the biggest cultural project in the Arab world. Glass makes up 70% of the building’s total surface area. As temperatures can easily exceed 40 degrees in summer when the sun beats down mercilessly from the sky, an innovative solution was required to protect books from high levels of solar radiation and provide a pleasant environment for visitors to the library.
SageGlass smart glass controls the influx of daylight and the effects of glare, allowing people to benefit from a pleasant indoor environment. The glazing’s tint levels completely block out UV radiation, effectively protecting the books. The reduced heat influx also helps cut air-conditioning costs.

Waves Lounge bar, Neuchâtel (Switzerland)

The WAVES lounge bar offers a stunning view of Lake Neuchâtel and the surrounding landscape. A fully transparent design was required to ensure an unobstructed panoramic view and to showcase the building’s unique architecture.
Thanks to SageGlass smart glazing, the architects’ dreams could come true: plenty of light and a panoramic view with no compromises on comfort at every time of the day and year. All that by meeting energy-efficiency requirements. Despite the large glazed sections, the temperature inside is always pleasant. The wave-shaped structure of the building also stands out.

American Geophysical Union HQ, Washington, DC (USA)

ARCHITECTS: Hickok Cole Architects
The American Geophysical Union (AGU), a leading international nonprofit scientific association, decided to renovate its headquarters to become DC’s first commercial renovation to achieve net zero energy status – producing as much energy as it consumes over a year. AGU also wanted to develop a workspace that fosters a healthy work environment with an emphasis on wellbeing for employees and tenants, and serving as an example for other buildings around the world striving to achieve net zero energy status.
AGU accomplished these goals by integrating leading technologies into the building, including SageGlass. Incorporation of smart glass in the space limits the use of the building’s heating and cooling system, resulting in a peak load reduction of 35 percent.
