“ Working closely with the Hermès team has allowed us to become real "tailors" of a sort. Cutting and sewing every little detail together with the architectural firm to create the most exclusive "fit-out" at this enchanting flagship store. “

Antonio Rillosi- Extravega CEO & Founder

Fluid, elegant, sinuous, the home of Hermès inaugurated at the Dubai Mall translates the sublime creations of one of the most exclusive fashion brands in the world. An enveloping jewel that hits on several levels is marked by soft and delicate volumes that are revealed in the ceiling, in the walls, in the furnishings, in the opulent staircase and in the majestic facade. Refined elements that spring from the mind of its designer, Denis Montel, managing and artistic director of the Parisian studio RDAI, with whom Extravega has collaborated for the creation of a masterpiece of craftsmanship and innovation: the curved facade, in steel and glass, at full height. World leader in the construction of custom metal, glass and wood products, founded in Paderno Dugnano (MI, Italy) by the enlightened entrepreneur Antonio Rillosi, Extravega has always stood out for its foresight towards experimentation and the future of technology. “Already in 1985 we had imported the first numerical control machines from America and Switzerland - says Antonio Rillosi - and today we boast fifty high-tech machines: from laser cutting in fiber optics to machines for shaping glass, wood and metals. Tradition and innovation find a perfect union, just like experimentation, an element that has always pushed us into multiple challenges. Among all the realization of the revolutionary and precious liquid metals...”

With offices inaugurated in Milan, London, Sydney and New York - and the dream of opening in Tokyo and Shanghai - the made in Italy company is known worldwide for its dedication to the project, the accuracy of the implementation, the attention to the smallest detail and his skillful dialogue between craftsmanship and technique. "In Extravega we fall in love with the project and take care of it from different points of view, starting from the aesthetic and functional desires of the architect and the customer, passing through the value engineering to minimize waste and optimize time. Since the founding of the company, we have focused on becoming the best laboratory for developing the design ideas of the most acclaimed architects and designers, giving them the opportunity to experience the impossible. To achieve the goal of their dreams. And the customers' dreams.”

Glass, wood, metal are all molded by Extravega with unprecedented accuracy, with the aim of achieving constructive perfection. Carried out with great pride, manufacturing products is a masterpiece of craftsmanship of the past and innovation technology contained in the Group's claim "making tradition an innovation." «In the last 10 years, ever since the global recession has changed the rules of the game forever, there has been a growing use of outsourcing of production to keep costs down. In Extravega we worked diametrically opposite by gradually incorporating all the processes and know-how that did not yet belong to us. This led us to deal directly and internally with materials and processes that were delegated by the end customer to other suppliers. Today Extravega acts as a total contractor in the construction: from one-off works of art to the creation of a museum, to the furnishing of an exclusive residence... From about thirty collaborators we have in fact gone to over one hundred and twenty, divided into different areas competence. The Project Managers in our company are the "conductors," as in the case of Alberto Sala, project manager in the development of the custom-made facade of the Hermès store."

The company thus boasts important collaborations in the world of luxury lifestyle: in addition to the project with Hermès, participation in one of the most spectacular and "transparent" architectures, the River Building of the famous Sanaa Architect studio in Tokyo, already winner of the Pritzker Prize, thus such as the collaboration in the development of another project by another Pritzker Prize, Zaha Hadid, among the most exclusive in New York in the residential sector. "Before the disappearance of the architect Zaha Hadid, we began the collaboration for the development of the facade of the Zaha Hadid Building on the High Line. Unfortunately, we had a double displeasure: when Zaha left us and when another company was subsequently selected in our place. We are however very proud to intrigue the architects and to follow these ambitious works from the beginning. And the opportunity to collaborate in the creation of the "dwelling" at the Dubai Mall - continues Antonio Rillosi - arose from the client's desire and need to build the flagship in exactly six months from the signing of the contract, including architectural and structural ambitious choices.

Extravega has accepted this challenge, handling the realization and installation of the curved external facade, whose surface covers about 450 square meters. The imposing and majestic façade extended from floor to ceiling floods the interior with light and is an authentic custom-made totemic element, representative of the Hermès store in Dubai. An iconic artifact created with innovative techniques experimented for the first time by Extravega, "As often happens in our custom-made projects - explains Rillosi - The façade is designed and built in contrast to ordinary techniques, that is, by taking all the structural part of the support outside the building and leaving a "clean" surface with the glass panes inside. In addition, the surface finish of the structures involved the use of a coating specifically designed with a sand effect, of the highest quality and lasting performance. The glass includes a screenprint designed specifically for the project that simulates the texture of a fabric. Signs that translate the stylistic language of the French Maison and the unparalleled accuracy for details, in a shrewd dialogue with Hermès' heritage and cultural heritage. And its sublime savoir-faire.
